Baby: kick!

Ultrasound and Feelings

Today, we had our second ultrasound and it was the most amazing thing!  I'm 21 weeks 3 days along and I loved every minute of the ultrasound.  Right away, we saw baby looking at us and moving his/her mouth! It was fantastic!  Then the tech spent lots of time checking baby's development ~ no cleft lip, two hands/feet, spine, stomach, bladder, etc.  She even complimented the baby on how cooperative he/she was being for all the views.

After letting me use the bathroom, she started some more, including 3D views!  I guess baby was a little tired of all the pushing because he/she decided to cuddle up against me and not face us.  Super cute to see it's arm covering it's face, almost as if to say "Okay, leave me alone to sleep!"  We worked hard to coax baby around by pushing on my belly and me turning to my side.  Every time we thought baby turned around, we were wrong!  But we did get a picture of baby's profile and it brought a tear to my eye.  Finally, she checked the baby's weight ~ already 1 pound 2 ounces!

No more pictures please!

Love this little face so much!

Pregnancy brings about a lot of various feelings ~ nervousness, excitement, stress, etc.  Lately, all I have is excitement!  Baby is moving a ton more and I'm able to feel him/her a lot which always brings a smile to my face.  After our early morning ultrasound, I literally spent the entire day smiling about it ~ seeing our baby's growth has made my heart grow a million times larger.

I cannot begin to explain how it feels to be pregnant and grow a baby.  As annoying as it can be to be a woman at times, it's so worth it!  I feel bad that Mike can't experience what I'm experiencing.  It truly is amazing and I love every minute of it.

First Kick!

Last  night, at 19 weeks 4 days, I felt our baby's first kick!! Much like when I first felt the flutters, I was laying down and reading.  I felt something that I thought was a kick so I put my hand on my belly and then there was another kick!  It even moved my hand ever so slightly.  Such an amazing feeling!  Of course, by the time Mike got home from work, baby wasn't moving for him ~ I told him to give it some time.

Before I got pregnant, Mike and I would talk about what it would be like.  I always said how I'd freak out at the first movement and kick.  It seemed so weird to me that I'd feel something growing and moving inside me!  But now that the time has come, I love every bit of it! There is no freaking out or weirdness.  It's all excitement and wanting to feel more and more.  Feeling this makes our baby even more real and it's like our baby is saying "Hi Mommy! I'm here and alright!"  I cannot wait for more kicks, hits, punches, jabs, etc!
