Baby Names

Before we even got pregnant, I knew that picking baby names would be one of the most difficult tasks for Mike and I.  And I was right! Mike can be a little picky and so can I.  I also have a hard time remembering ones I like, unless I write them down!  So I headed to Barnes and Noble to pick up a book....

Holy moly! The categories they include are ridiculous!! Who, in their right mind, would name their child after a Muppets character? Sesame Street character? A liquor? Comic-strip characters?  I mean, seriously?! Picking a name is a daunting task.  It has to fit your child.  It will be with them for the rest of their lives.  Why would Mungo, Chablis, Gonzo, Skeeter, or Grover even be options for your child's name??  Regardless, it made for some giggles!

Mike and I have discussed some names but aren't really sharing yet.  I want to have a couple choices for boy or girl, in case once we see our child, the name doesn't fit.  So, we are working on it.  It will take awhile, but I know we will pick the perfect match for our perfect little bundle.

Baby got to enjoy his/her first concert last weekend! Brad Paisley at Wrigley Field! (We'll just count this as our 16 week pic, a few days early.)

The school year has officially ended and one of my students' mom dropped off a baby gift for us...

Her card said "We'll just hope it's a girl!"  Such a sweet and thoughtful gift!

And, I have a fantastic husband that surprised me with a massive edible arrangement  on the last Friday of the school year.  He congratulated me on another successful school year and said to get ready for an even bigger summer/fall!  So sweet!  He informed me that it was so big because he knew how much fruit I've been eating lately. :)

A Few Things I've Learned About Pregnancy (So Far)

There are some things I've learned over the last 15 weeks in regards to pregnancy.  Some good and some bad, but either way, I still love being pregnant!

1. You will get a TON of advice - much of which is unsolicited.  For example, when you pick up a light frame and place it back on the wall it fell off of, you'll be told that you shouldn't stretch.  Really??? Because I'm pretty sure they have prenatal yoga and yoga is stretching!

2. Your hair will grow.  Good thing, right? Well yes, except it's not just growing in length.  New hair will actually grow and you will have fly away, baby hairs.  No big deal, unless you're putting your hair in a ponytail and have all kinds of fly aways! PTL for hairspray!

3. Cravings are inevitable.  And they are like you see on TV or in the movies.  When the craving appears, you baby has to have it now!  Mike is rather lucky to be so busy at work or he'd be busy running around to satisfy cravings.

4. And you may cry over said cravings. Pizza bagels caused the water works for me. All I baby wanted was sausage, cheese, pepperoni pizza bagels. The ones I got = spoiled, blackened, disgusting.  Go to a new store for more  = only cheese and pepperoni ones.  Call sister in the middle of the frozen food aisle of Dominicks (while she has no voice!) and vent about this awful situation. Get home and Mike asks why I don't have pizza bagels = burst into tears.  Luckily for me, Friday's sizzling chicken and cheese quickly dried those tears.

5. What you think may creep you out prior to pregnancy becomes completely fascinating during pregnancy.  For example, the idea of the baby moving and me feeling it absolutely, 100% freaked me out before becoming pregnant.  I couldn't believe that something would be growing and moving inside me.  A little too alien-esque for my liking.  Now, here I am 15 weeks pregnant, and I cannot wait to feel our little baby move!  I'm completely anxious for the first feel and cannot wait for all the movements to follow and for Mike to feel it!

Regardless of the good and bad, pregnancy is an amazing thing to go through.  I feel so lucky to be able to have gotten pregnant and to have had an "easy" pregnancy so far.  I cannot wait for all the exciting changes to come in the next 25 weeks and of course to meet our little one!

Week Fifteen

Week Fifteen

Due Date: November 27, 2012

How Big is Baby: He/she is the size of an apple!

Total weight gain:  Going to have to wait until next week for this one...my scale at home is still saying I weigh less than the one at the dr!  I know I've had to gain some weight, so we'll see what the doctor says.

Morning Sickness: None!!

Cravings: Water and fruit, typical.  And pistachios! Thank you Mom for picking me up a nice big bag from Sam's Club!

Sleep: Great, except for getting up for the bathroom

I can't live without: Sundresses and tank tops - especially with the summer temps starting to appear!

I miss: All the stuff I'm not suppose to have - hot dogs, turkey sandwiches,  and fun, summer adult drinks!

I am looking forward to: My next doctor's appointment (next Tuesday), summer vacation!

Milestones: Our baby is about 4 inches long! And even though his/her eyelids are still fused shut, he/she can sense light - if I was to shine a light at my belly, our baby would likely move away from it! (I love all the interesting facts babycenter.com gives me!)

Movement: Nothing yet, but I'm so excited for it to happen!

Gender: Still thinking a boy, but will be surprised!

Labor Signs: It’s far too soon for this!

I have a bump now!!! :)
